A comedy by Neil Simon
Written in 1975, God's Favorite is a witty and contemporary take on the biblical Book of Job. Translated and adapted by Flávio Marinho, the story centers around João Aranha, a wealthy businessman who serves as a modern-day caricature of Job, known for his unshakable patience. His world is turned upside down when the naive Sidney Lima, our Archangel Gabriel, pays him a visit. Hired by a celestial agency, Sidney's mission is to deliver a divine message: a wager between good and evil that will test João's faith to its limits.
Winner of the Pulitzer Prize (1991) and three Tony Awards, NEIL SIMON is one of the most celebrated playwrights in the United States, second only to Shakespeare in the number of his plays produced.
